Echidna (Greek mythology: Ἔχιδνα, “She-Viper”): was a monster, half-woman and half-snake, who lived alone in a cave. She was the mate of the fearsome monster Typhon and was the mother of many of the most famous monsters of Greek myth.
Echidna is a progressive death metal band, formed in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2004 by Giannis Chionidis (drums), Nikos Parastatidis (guitars) and Panos Bouklis (guitars). In 2005, Nikos Metaxas (bass) and Theo Deligiannidis (vocals) joined, and the band started composing their own songs. In 2005-06 they recorded their first demo, “This Suffering”, followed up by live gigs in Greece. In 2010, the band released their debut album “Manifests of Human Existence”, promoted through more live shows in Greece, Cyprus, Belgium, Scotland and Denmark, with appearances as supporting act to Tankard and Cynic.
10 years after their debut album, Echidna have completed their second full length album, “Escape from Civilization”, released in June 2020.
Echidna (Από μυθολογία: Ἔχιδνα): ήταν ένα μυθολογικό τέρας, μισό γυναίκα μισό φίδι, που ζούσε μόνο του σε μία σπηλιά. Ήταν η σύζυγος του Τυφώνα και η μητέρα πολλών τεράτων της μυθολογίας.
Οι Echidna είναι μία progressive death metal μπάντα, από τη Θεσσαλονίκη. Η μπάντα ξεκίνησε το 2004 από τον Γιάννη Χιονίδη (τύμπανα), τον Νίκο Παραστατίδη (κιθάρα) και τον Πάνο Μπουκλή (κιθάρα). Το 2005 ο Νίκος Μεταξάς ανέλαβε το μπάσο και ο Τεό Δεληγιαννίδης τα φωνητικά και η μπάντα ξεκίνησε να γράφει δικά της κομμάτια. Το 2005-06 ηχογράφησαν το πρώτο τους ντέμο “This Suffering” συνοδευόμενο από πολλές live εμφανίσεις στην Ελλάδα. Το 2010, η μπάντα κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο της άλμπουμ “Manifests of Human Existence”, ακολουθούμενο από live σε Έλλαδα, Κύπρο, Βέλγιο, Σκωτία και Δανία. Οι Echidna επίσης εμφανίστηκαν ως supporting act στους Tankard και Cynic.
10 χρόνια μετά το ντεμπούτο τους οι Echidna κυκλοφορούν το άλμπουμ “Escape from Civilization” τον Ιούνιο του 2020.
