2 by bukowski – Beast’s Breath

After playing together in various outfits and configurations since their early teens, 2 by bukowski was formed some time in 1997.

2 by bukowski’s first album “What A Long Strange Journey This Has Been” was released in 2001 and marked the beginning of their fondly remembered collaboration with Thessaloniki’s Poeta Negra and more or less the transition from homemade recordings to recording studios, while 2003’s “Drink From My Bastard Grail” featured their first even song with vocals provided by Karine Charff of AMP.

The band released their final LP “Yzorrderex” in 2005 via Very Friendly Records, thus closing their first creative period.

2017 marked the return of 2 by bukowski, with 3 singles (Hot Summer, Follow You Home, Dead Man’s Lullaby) released via Inner Ear Records.

Joined with Kid Moxie on vocals and Heike Marie Raedeker on vocals and bass, 2 by bukowski explore more traditional song structures and formats, without leaving their strange and wonderful sonic arsenal behind.

With members almost constantly spread between different towns in Greece, France, England and Germany over the years and releases for record labels from Greece, England, Hong Kong and Canada, combined with an introverted and sparse public image, there’s often been confusion regarding who they are and where they are from.

Οι 2 by bukowski ιδρύθηκαν το 1997 από μέλη που έπαιζαν μαζί σε διάφορα σχήματα από την πρώιμη εφηβεία τους. Τον πρώτο καιρό, το συγκρότημα έστελνε ταχυδρομικά σε δισκογραφικές εταιρίες MiniDisk με ζωντανές ηχογραφήσεις παιγμένες στο παιδικό δωμάτιο του Νίκου, το αποκαλούμενο από τους 2 by bukowski “The Wire Nightmare”. Τα κομμάτια τραβήξαν τη προσοχή κάποιων ανεξάρτητων εταιριών και οδήγησαν στη πρώτη κυκλοφορία, το limited edition split 7″ single με τους Lazarus Clamp στη Jonathon Whiskey. Το κομμάτι των 2 by bukowski ήταν το επτάλεπτο David Dark. Το single έγινε Δίσκος του Μήνα στο βρετανικό περιοδικό Record Collector. Στη συνέχεια, ακολούθησαν μερικά ακόμα singles, συμμετοχές σε συλλογές και το 12” EP του 2000 “He Knows That In The Shadows Someone Is Making The Elements Bleed” με την Liquefaction Empire.

Το πρώτο άλμπουμ των 2 by bukowski “What A Long Strange Journey This Has Been” κυκλοφόρησε το 2001 από τη Poeta Negra. Το δεύτερο full length άλμπουμ “Drink From My Bastard Grail” του 2003 περιείχε το “Chopperfuck”, το πρώτο μη αμιγώς ορχηστρικό κομμάτι των 2 by bukowski, με τη Karine Charff των Amp στα φωνητικά. Το άλμπουμ “Yzordderex” του 2005 με τη Very Friendly έκλεισε τον πρώτο κύκλο του συγκροτήματος.

Η νέα περίοδος για τη μπάντα ξεκίνησε το 2017, με τα 7″ single “Hot Summer”, “Follow You Home” και “Dead Man’s Lullaby” με τη Kid Moxie στα φωνητικά, και τη Heike Raedeker (18th Dye, LeVent) στα φωνητικά και στο μπάσο.

Με τα μέλη των 2 by bukowski ανέκαθεν σκορπισμένα σε διάφορες πόλεις της Ελλάδας, της Γαλλίας, της Αγγλίας και της Γερμανίας, με κυκλοφορίες σε εταιρίες στην Ελλάδα, στην Αγγλία, στο Χονγκ Κόνγκ και στο Καναδά και σε συνδυασμό με την εσωστρεφή και σποραδική δημόσια παρουσία, δεν είναι παράξενο το ότι υπήρχε πάντα μια ασάφεια για τα πρόσωπα και την ταυτότητα της μπάντας…
